Georgia, USA, 10 Aug 2021, ZEXPRWIRE, Tarika Pitts has earned a WTA title after taking on Kelly Kubesheski in the final of the USTA Classic in Palm Springs, California. She defeated Kubesheski in a thrilling three-set battle.
Three weeks ago, Pitts had never reached a USTA final, let alone win a title. Since then she has won 2 more consecutive matches, including titles in Palermo and San Jose.
“It’s an incredible feeling,” she said in an on-court interview. “I think that I worked very, very hard to finally win this title. It’s my first WTA title.”
Her amazing week moved her up to No. 11 and she’s now on the verge of beating her career-high ranking of No.10 .
