7 Best Movie and TV Depictions of the Devil

The theme of good and evil is as old as the world we live in, and one of the most fundamental concepts used in filmmaking. In almost every movie, good fights evil, and in most cases, wins. On one side, we have God, angels, and our main protagonists, and on the other – bad guys, demons, and, of course, the Devil. So let’s see which movie Devils are worth your time!

1. Peter Stormare, Constantine

In Constantine, the Devil looks like a regular person: he wears a suit, has a normal human face, skin, arms, legs, but on the other hand, his presence is frankly infernal. With black tar-like liquid dripping from bare feet, strange black veins on the body, deceptively funny mannerisms, and a very that hellish gaze. Gives me the chills!

2. Tom Ellis, Lucifer

Tom Ellis’s character, Lucifer Morningstar, was loosely based on Lucifer from Vertigo comics. And, honestly, the comic book version is far superior in every aspect but one – charisma. Tom has this god-given (or as Luci would say – “dad-given”) talent of acting, which he uses to make this world a better place.

3. Mark Pellegrino, Supernatural

Another TV-show Lucifer is played by Mark Pellegrino in Supernatural. Ever since the day we saw him on-screen, fans immediately fell in love with this badass depiction of the Fallen One. I’m more of a Crowley fan myself, but I’m not complaining.

4. Dave Grohl, Pick of Destiny

Remember the epic rock-off with the Big Red guy? That was Dave Grohl, no lies! If you’re curious how they transformed him into this epic Rock Devil, Jack black said it best: “we just pulled the Dave Grohl face off and there he was!”

5. Al Pacino, The Devil’s Advocate

It seems like Al Pacino was born to play either the Devil or a mafia boss. Or both! This is probably why his character in “The Devil’s Advocate” is the most vicious, the most efficient, the most sensual, and the most attractive Devil of all possible!

6. Jack Nicholson, The Witches of Eastwick

Daryl Van Horne is a damn charming man. How else would he make three women fall for him at once? Naturally, over time, the girls are getting more and more suspicious, and they start realizing he’s the Devil in the flesh. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” So imagine scorning three women!

7. The Devil, Rick and Morty

In Rick and Morty, The Devil appears in the episode called “Something Ricked This Way Comes,” which mimics Stephen King’s “Needful Things” novel and “Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury. A mysterious stranger opens a shop selling cursed objects but Rick quickly figures out a way to profit from someone else’s misfortune, by lifting the curses for money. One of the best episodes in that season, for sure.
